How to recruit magnetic resonance imaging technologists for a medical staffing agency? We will be looking at this very question today in this article. We will also be looking at the direct opportunity and focusing on the strategic nature of an MRI technologist.
Magnetic resonance imaging technologist plentiful in the market place, the problem is that many staffing agencies do not know how to find them quickly. Well, let me rephrase that, how to find them when in need.
Let me explain that statement. An MRI technologist is different than say a CT technologist, Ultrasound technologist or radiologic technologists. Why? Well, you really don’t use MRI technologist as a Call basis. MRI technologist are used usually M-F and on a schedule basis. ER’s use mainly CT to do critical exams like Brain. Rarely will an ER request an MRI in stead of a CT Head.
With that said, you will find that staffing an technologist must be staffed with a minimum. That minimum can be based on an industry standard or you can create that standard. This will be based on the needs analysis of your region.
So how do you find a technologist. There are many ways to recruit them, but for the sake of this article I will focus primarily on one that by itself is a strong recruiting method.
You find one that is interested in moving to a new city from a different city or state. We will assume you already have a contract to fill.
You will be surprised how many MRI technologist want to move to another city or state, using your staffing agency as a spring board is a viable way to allow them to move forward.
The strategic nature of an MRI technologist is that they usually have several licenses. What that means is that if you bring an technologist from another state you will infact be able to keep that technologist working both as an MRI technologist and as there other license. Usually an technologist will have an Xray license.
Perhaps in the 80’s that was not true, Why? Well, many MRI technologist did not have to be Xray techs, but that is greatly changing today.
There you have it, an easy way to bring an MRI technologist that is available for you to use as an MRI tech and keep him/her busy until the next account arises.
You want to make sure the MRI tech has atleast an Xray license to keep him/her working. You don’t want to spend money finding the MRI tech. only to loose him/her for lack of work. MRI staffing is not as abundant as say CT, Ultrasound or Xray.
